I think you will be blown away to find multiple references to Torah in the New Testament.
Would you be surprised if the New Testament is a second witness to the instructions of Yahweh, rather than a refutation of the Law. Below is our latest episode of Torah Tuesday. The reference is James 1:22-25.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.NLT
This is just one of many echoes of the Old Testament that you will hear when you read the New Testament. If you find a verse in the NT that contradicts the OT, the answer is not to throw out the OT. It is to keep reading and understand that if God is perfect, He does not need correcting. It is always our understanding that falls short.
Torah is called “Perfect here in Jacob (James) as it is in Psalm 19:7.
“The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.” -NLT
Do you need blessing?
Do you need your soul revived?
Run to the Living Word Yeshua/Jesus – the author of life and the author of the Torah. People all over the world are realizing that as Christians, many of us have lost our “Way” as we seek doctrines which dishonor His perfect Torah. Many are returning (Teshuvah) to Him, to live under His blessing of Torah.
How have God’s instructions (Torah) been a blessing to you?
